BUYING

There’s no right or wrong when it comes to purchasing music digitally or physically. Supporting the artist and helping them chart domestically and internationally brings them honors, potential awards, and allows for more exposure in many different ways.

Each album can come in multiple versions. Each version has the same music, but different offerings whether it’s the album cover, another version of the song, extended or instrumental added. Click here to see how to buy on Digital Platforms like iTunes, Amazon, 7Digital and Qobuz.

In Store Buying & Digital Artist Websites
See below how to buy Digital songs from an artists website and how to support and buy physical copies from in the store and more. One of the biggest ways is to ask family members to rebuy as well. They have devices. Just remember to delete the purchase out of their Apple Music if you buy on iTunes.
Physical Buying
All sales are tracked from Friday to Thursday. Also, keep in mind for charting in the United States: do not buy albums from the Global Weverse Shop and do not buy more than 4 albums at a time. Anything over 4 is considered a OVERBulk purchase and does not count. For the purchase to count toward U.S., domestic charts you must buy the album from one of the following:

In Store Buying

Buying in store is one of the many ways to support an artist. The first thing to remember about buying in store is you can only buy 4 copies per transaction at most. You can do 1-4. Any more than that will not count.

Artists Digital Sales

Artists have started uploading digital singles on their websites and submitting the sales at the end of the week. As of 6/30/23 Billboard will no longer count digital download singles from artist webstores (D2C) towards the Hot 100. Digital Sales will count toward RIAA and certifications in the US.

Buy the CDs and Cassettes from the artist website instead.

On 1 card you can buy:

iTunes - (Clean, Explicit)
Amazon - (Clean, Explicit)
Website - (Clean, Explicit)
7Digtal - (Clean, Explicit)
Qobuz - (Clean, Explicit)

Album Buying Tip

Remember buying 10 tracks from the album on your platforms like iTunes, Amazon, Qobuz, & 7Digital can count toward the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200 chart. After buying 10 on iTunes you can click complete album and it'll count as another sale.

This can help each track chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
